The district says families can receive a $100 gift card if a student receives an initial vaccination at a Chicago Public Schools event.

The Chicago Department of Public Health on Thursday announced the city reached its goal of vaccinating at least 77% of residents 12 or older as of earlier this week, about a month ahead of Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s target of hitting that benchmark by the end of the year.”
November 19, 2021 | An advisory panel to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted on Friday to recommend Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna’s Covid-19 booster shots to all adults, a move that simplifies who is eligible for an additional dose. Friday’s unanimous vote by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices strips away the complicated and confusing criteria that had surrounded boosters, with eligibility limited to certain groups and, initially, certain vaccines.
November 15, 2021 | All adults in suburban Cook County are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine booster, health officials told WTTW News Monday. “Knowing that vaccines are the only way out of the pandemic, and knowing that booster doses strengthen our ability to fight COVID-19, we wholeheartedly encourage people get a booster shot as soon as they can,” said Dr. Rachel Rubin, the senior medical officer of the Cook County Department of Public Health. “We must stop the transmission of the virus.”

Doctors and public health officials are encouraging parents to take their young children to their pediatrician’s office to get the shot.
