Ohio will pay $5.8 million in bonuses to state employees who got COVID-19 vaccine

October 20, 2021 | Ohio is trying to get its 50,000 state employees vaccinated. In July the state offered $100 checks to any state employee who reported getting their first of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Then, in September they upped the ante. State agencies where 65% or more employees reported being vaccinated by Oct. 15 would get $300 checks. And agencies with 85% of their active employees on the record as having at least one dose by Nov. 15 will get $600.

Dayton doctors answer reader questions: Why do the vaccinated care if others are unvaccinated?

October 25, 2021 | Dayton-area doctors explained that former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell’s death last week from complications of COVID-19 although he was fully vaccinated is not evidence the vaccines don’t work. Powell was 84 and battling blood cancer, making him high risk for the vaccine not fully protecting him and for dying from even a mild case of COVID-19. Unvaccinated Ohioans have made up 98% of statewide COVID-19 deaths in 2021, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
