Dr. Audrey Wells, Medical and Scientific Advisory Board for WhisperSom™ and Chief Medical Officer for SLIIIP.com

Dr. Audrey Wells
Dr. Wells: “Many people think sleep is simply downtime. In reality, sleep is one of the most active periods for your brain and body. It’s when healing, repair, memory processing, and metabolic regulation take place.”
Q: If someone remembers only one thing from this article, what should it be?
Dr. Wells: “Sleep is for the brain, by the brain. When sleep is disrupted, virtually every system in the body is affected.”
Q: What has changed the most in sleep medicine over the past decade?
Dr. Wells: “We now have an entire menu of treatment options. CPAP remains highly effective, but today’s care is personalized. Home sleep testing, telemedicine, oral appliances, weight management strategies, and newer therapies allow us to tailor treatment to each individual.”
Q: What’s one message you would share specifically with NFL Alumni?
Dr. Wells: “You’ve already learned how to train your body for peak performance. Think about sleep the same way. Good sleep is a practice. When you put in the work, your brain and body reward you with better recovery, better health, and a better quality of life.”
