May American Stroke Month

Know the Signs. Protect Your Future.

Stroke doesn’t wait for age. And it doesn’t care how strong you were on the field.

For former players, the risk is real — and often higher than expected.

The good news? Up to 80% of strokes are preventable.

The difference between life-changing damage and walking away can come down to one thing: recognition — and fast action.

Know the Signs: Act B.E. F.A.S.T.

When it comes to stroke, minutes matter. Swift action can save a life and protect critical brain function.

A 30 second drill that saves lives:

B = Balance: Sudden loss of coordination or dizziness.
E = Eyes: Sudden blurred or double vision, or loss of vision.
F = Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side droop?
A = Arms: Ask them to raise both arms. Does one drift downward?
S = Speech: Is their speech slurred or strange?
T = Time: If you see any of these signs, call 911 immediately.

Know the signs. Share them with your family today.

Why This Matters for NFL Alumni

The HUDDLE study shows former players are nearly six times more likely to experience atrial fibrillation — a major stroke risk factor.

Research from the NFL Alumni Heath – Supported Study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and highlighted by the American College of Cardiology, shows that a significant number of former players are living with cardiovascular disease — often without symptoms.

That’s why stroke prevention isn’t optional.

It’s your post game plan.
