What complications can Obesity lead to?
Obesity contributes to a number of health conditions which can in themselves increase the risk of causing other medical conditions. Obesity has been directly linked to:
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Heart Disease, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart attacks
- Stroke
- Sleep Apnea and other breathing issues
- Osteoarthritis
- Gallbladder Disease
- Gastric Reflux
- Fatty Liver Disease
- Cancers, specifically breast, colon, and endometrial cancer
- Mental Health Issues, including depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem
- Reproductive Issues, including irregular menstrual cycles and infertility
What mental health conditions can Obesity contribute to?
n addition to compromising physical health, obesity can also cause problems with mental health including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Low Self-Esteem
- Eating Disorders
- Social Isolation
- Body Dysmorphic Disorder
