What complications can Obesity lead to?

Obesity contributes to a number of health conditions which can in themselves increase the risk of causing other medical conditions. Obesity has been directly linked to:

  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Heart Disease, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart attacks
  • Stroke
  • Sleep Apnea and other breathing issues
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Gallbladder Disease
  • Gastric Reflux
  • Fatty Liver Disease
  • Cancers, specifically breast, colon, and endometrial cancer
  • Mental Health Issues, including depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem
  • Reproductive Issues, including irregular menstrual cycles and infertility

What mental health conditions can Obesity contribute to?

n addition to compromising physical health, obesity can also cause problems with mental health including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Eating Disorders
  • Social Isolation
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder
